Position Summary

The Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for leading and performing all activities in the accounts payable function including support and guidance of the day-to-day activities of accounts payable team and maintenance of system. The manager maintains all payment or other transaction records and is responsible for coordinating the payment process. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintains accurate records and control reports. The manager timely reviews all unvouchered receipts and purchase orders and reconciles open balances to the general ledger. Review applicable accounting reports and accounts payable register to ensure accuracy. Audits methods and procedures of accounts payable function to improve efficiency and recommends changes to policies that affect the organization. Frequently interacts with other supervisors, vendors, and/or functional peer group managers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers to capture cash discounts and maintain credit rating.

  • Maintains transaction records to ensure accurate accounting reporting and proper accounts payable register.

  • Administrator of the company credit card and travel reimbursement program.

  • Supervise the receipt of invoices, verification, record of transactions and direct expense.

  • Reviews vendor and service provider agreements.

  • Track and pay sales and use tax.

  • Reconcile statements and payment records.

  • Correspond with vendors regarding billing and payments and resolve billing issues.

  • Analyze accounts.

  • Prepares reports.

  • Streamline the payment process.

  • Assist with audits.

  • Lead AP team for daily AP work while providing a supportive environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting systems, preferably SAP and Concur.

  • PC Computer Proficiency: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.

  • Specialized business mathematics or accounting coursework preferred.

  • Possess strong skills in communicating and ability to present courteous customer service.

  • Experience in accounting in a manufacturing/distribution environment preferred.

  • Bookkeeping and month end close experience preferred.

Education and Certification

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
